DJ Assault is a Detroit pioneer. Over 25 years, he has gone from a regional lynchpin to de facto international ambassador for booty music, a highly energetic fusion of electro, techno and footwork mixed with provocatively body-moving lyrics. He calls the sound ‘accelerated funk’. Driven by a TR-808 and fuelled with a healthy dose of samples, scandal, and swagger, DJ Assault’s sound is a healthy antidote to tepid takes on techno. He is also known to tear up the dance, combining club classics and his own hybrid originals with rapid-fire mixing and scratching. It’s gonna be a full workout.
