Lil Mofo is one of Tokyo’s most prolific deejays. She travels around the Japanese capital’s rich network of venues, just as content playing the warmer sounds of dancehall and dub in a backstreet bar as she is banging out icy, contorted techno in a large nightclub. It was at one of these gigs that she caught the attention of The Trilogy Tapes founder Will Bankhead, who heard her playing dancehall records and commissioned a TTT mixtape.
